Synthetic Phase II Shewhart-type Attributes Control Charts When Process Parameters are Estimated
نویسندگان
چکیده
The performance of attributes control charts (such as c and np charts) is usually evaluated under the assumption of known process parameters (i.e., the nominal proportion of nonconforming units or the nominal number of nonconformities). However, in practice, these process parameters are rarely known and have to be estimated from an in-control phase I data set. In this paper, we derive the run length properties of the phase II synthetic c and np charts with estimated parameters, and we investigate the numberm of phase I samples that would be necessary for these charts in order to obtain similar in-control average run lengths as in the known parameters case. We also propose new specific chart parameters that allow these charts to have approximately the same in-control average run lengths as the ones obtained in the known parameter case. Nonparametric Shewhart-type Quality Control Charts in Fuzzy Environment
Nonparametric control charts are presented in order to figure out the problem of detecting changes in the process median (or mean), or changes in the variability process where there is limited knowledge regarding the underlying process. When observations are reported imprecise, then it is impossible to use classical nonparametric control charts. This paper is devoted to the problem of c...
متن کاملThe effect of parameter estimation on Phase II control chart performance in monitoring financial GARCH processes with contaminated data
The application of control charts for monitoring financial processes has received a greater focus after recent global crisis. The Generelized AutoRegressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (GARCH) time series model is widely applied for modelling financial processes. Therefore, traditional Shewhart control chart is developed to monitor GARCH processes. There are some difficulties in financial su...
متن کاملA Novel Clustering Approach for Estimating the Time of Step Changes in Shewhart Control Charts
Although control charts are very common to monitoring process changes, they usually do not indicate the real time of the changes. Identifying the real time of the process changes is known as change-point estimation problem. There are a number of change point models in the literature however most of the existing approaches are dedicated to normal processes. In this paper we propose a novel app...
متن کاملTitle: On the Statistical Performance of Quality Control Charts with Estimated Parameters
Under estimated in-control parameters, the Phase II control chart performance is expected to vary among practitioners due to the use of different Phase I data sets. Accordingly, the typical measure of Phase II control chart performance, the average run length (ARL), becomes a random variable. In the literature, control charts with estimated parameters were assessed and the appropriate amounts o...
متن کاملNew Shewhart-type synthetic bar{X} control schemes for non-normal data
In this paper, Burr-type XII ̄X synthetic schemes are proposed as an alternative to the classical ̄X synthetic schemes when the assumption of normality fails to hold. First, the basic design of the Burr-type XII ̄X synthetic scheme is developed and its performance investigated using exact formulae. Secondly, the non-side-sensitive and side-sensitive Burr-type XII ̄X synthetic schemes are int...
